In short: DevBox runs on your Mac and makes no internet connections of its own. There is no account, no telemetry and no analytics, in the app or on this site. What it reads about your processes, ports, containers and agent sessions stays on your Mac.

This policy explains how Ambysto Technologies LLC ("Ambysto", "we", "us") handles personal information for the Ambysto DevBox app ("DevBox") and this website, devbox.ambysto.com. It applies together with the Ambysto Privacy Policy, which covers all our products. Where this page is more specific about DevBox, this page applies.

1. What DevBox reads, and what stays on your Mac

To do its job, DevBox reads the processes listening on your Mac's ports, your container runtimes and your AI coding-agent sessions. For your own processes this includes the program, its command line, its project folder, start time, CPU and memory. For other users' processes it shows only the port, address and program name. It never reads other users' files or command lines.

• Everything DevBox reads stays on your Mac. We never receive it.
• History (Pro): the last 7 days of listening ports (number, program, how far it is reachable, project) and agent sessions (tool, project, CPU, memory), with no command lines and no environment. It is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Ambysto DevBox/History and older days are deleted at launch.
• Suite glance: if you use the Ambysto Pro Suite, DevBox writes a small status file with four fixed labels and counts only, never a name, path, port, process id, address or command line.
• Your settings are stored in DevBox's own preferences on your Mac.
• Export (Pro) writes a file only when you ask, to a place you choose. It can include command lines and project folders; you decide where it goes.
• Uninstalling DevBox and deleting its folder removes its data from your Mac.

2. Connections DevBox makes

DevBox has no network access of its own: it sends nothing to us or to anyone else, and it does not check for updates by itself. To read your containers, it talks to your container runtime through the runtime's local socket on your Mac, with read-only requests. Container commands you confirm run the runtime's own docker tool against that same local socket.

3. Your license key

A Pro license key is checked on your Mac, offline. Checking it sends nothing to us.

4. When you buy Pro

Payments are processed by our payment provider. We receive the details needed to issue and support your license, such as your name, email address and billing country, and limited card details such as the card brand, last four digits and expiry date. We do not store full card numbers. We use these details to deliver your key, send your receipt, handle refunds and answer support requests.

5. This website

devbox.ambysto.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver and secure the site.

6. When you email us

If you write to us, we keep your message and email address to answer you and to keep a record of support requests.

7. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run DevBox's sales and support, such as payment processing, email delivery and hosting, under contracts that limit their use of the data; with authorities, where required by law or to protect rights and safety; and with a buyer or successor, if our business is involved in a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.

8. Data retention

We keep purchase and support records as long as needed to support your license, and longer only where we must keep records for legal, tax or accounting reasons.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email contact@ambysto.com. We respond within 30 days. Data that DevBox keeps on your Mac is under your control: you can delete it yourself or by uninstalling DevBox.

10. International transfers

Ambysto is based in the United States and our providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

11. Children

DevBox is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

12. Changes

We may update this policy and will post the new version on this page. For material changes, we will notify customers by email.
